Terry L. Scherling

  • Former Senior Executive, Operations Security, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
  • Currently, Major General, Air National Guard serving as Special Assistant to the Chief, National Guard Bureau (NGB).
  • Former Director, Joint Staff, NGB.  Principal advisor to the Chief, NGB for all domestic military operations.  During domestic operations, served as the focal point for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, combatant commands and Interagency/Intergovernmental partners as well as the National Guard of the states.
  • Former first Deputy Director Antiterrorism/Homeland Defense, Operations Directorate, Joint Staff, Pentagon. Principal military advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense for domestic military operations (Air, Land, Maritime & CBRNE). Served as Joint Staff lead for Force Protection, the Joint Counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Task Force, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Vulnerability Assessments, Continuity Operations, and Antiterrorism/Counterterrorism.
  • Established the Air Force Directorate of Homeland Security after 9/11. Led development of the homeland security capabilities based risk assessment investment strategy for the Air Force.
    Former first Chief Support Officer for the Air National Guard (ANG). Led development of plans, programs, policy and funding for civil engineering, logistics, information management, personnel, medical services and finance for the ANG.
  • Former Director of Supply for the Air National Guard.
  • Former small business owner with twenty two years of experience with Carson Midwest Travel, Inc., the largest travel agency in the state providing business, group and leisure travel.
